A poem about being hurt
Don’t Break Me Down

Don’t break me down, chop me up and tear my world apart
When you do, it’s like you are putting a spear through my heart
But you aren’t breaking my heart, what you are doing is even worse
You are hardening me, angering me, plaguing me with a curse
Because it’s hard to shake it, the feeling you feel
When the sweet layers start to peel
And you have taken away all the sweetness
Only bitterness remains, then it’s hard to refrain from being furious
That makes me no longer luxurious, but sour and rude and full of attitude
You’ve got to be gentle with this loving soul
When you are right with me, my heart is made of gold
But keep it up, break me down and you will see
What surfaces, will not be the real me, but instead
A lady with hurt and anger in her head
Then it will be much to late to debate, the damage will be done
And when it’s all said and done, nobody won.
