Watch out for friends in the grass
How does a friend
till death, till the end,
turn into a snake
with a heart that is dead?

Through love being bold
and truth being told,
revealing what’s under
the skin that is shed.

The snake could be you
and maybe me, too,
with split tongue and scales
and skin that is cold.

While one had it nice
the other died twice,
a life of regret
and death to behold.
