love ended
Pain, Misery, Regret.
Old friends, I can't forget
as they re-enter my life,
through a door in my heart
I once thought closed.

I now know better.

Although sometimes shunned,
they were always there.
Ghosts of my past.
Forever near;
waiting for me,
to embrace them again.

The cold comfort they offer
I must accept,
for love and  happiness
have been replaced by regret.

As their icy fingers penetrate my soul,
I bequeath my love to you,
this much I do know.

There is no point
to dwell in misery,
but that's all I have left
for you are now not with me.
