I brief poem Iwrote about summer days long gone.
REVISED****

She stands in the street.
Fingers sticky with lemon ice.
The once frozen drops
splatter on her cotton-candy toes.

She stands in the street.
Skate wheels marking the soft asphalt.
Feet slide back and forth
over the hot, tarry roadway.

She stands in the street,
gulping the humid Georgia air.
Its cotton ball thick
texture soaking into her lungs.

She stands in the street,
sweat beading above pursed lips,
She stares at the road,
eyes peering at things imagined.

She stands in the street,
arms crossed over her T-shirt.
She stands in the street,
while I sit and wish I was her.
