When it burns out, there are pieces that still remain.
Bits of you in my dreams,
Bits of you linger,
Bits of you in the dust,
in the air;

You followed me like you said you would
When we threw the ashes to the wind.

You stick to my lungs
when I'm trying to sleep;
Coughing you,
Couging you,
Couging you up.

You are
on my skin,
But you remain
to be seen,
Bits of you on my lips,
in my hair;
Bits of you everywhere.

I thought the flames were high enough,
I thought the flames were hot enough,
I thought the fire would burn it away,
I hoped the fire would do that for us,
I wished the fire would do that for me,
I called for you,
but only into the burning heat,
I thought the flames would have taken that from me.

Washing you,
Burning you,
Coughing you up;

You followed me like you said you would
When we threw the ashes to the wind.
