I had this exact poem published in a Poetry Book when I was 11 - May be a little dated now
Summer

The Sun's so lovely, the sight's so bright,
The trees, the grass, the air so light,
The children play all day and all night,
Flying their bright red kites.
The flowers have blossomed, the crops are ripe,
It's good to have the Summertime!
The sky is all clear, the sky is all blue,
No colour there is dull.
The pears, the plums they taste so yum,
The grapes and grapefruit too.
The Summer brings us so much fun,
Why doesn't it last all year?
It has to end sometime, 'Oh deary, deary, dear.'

Now all the flowers are dead,
The roots and leaves as well,
The Sun has gone, gone-gone-gone,
The cycle has to go on...
