love is war
the morning light
revealed the despair filled room
It resembled a battlefield
Kleenex strewn about
Crumpled notes filled
with unspoken feelings
that will never be revealed
tear stained pillow cases
and shreds of the past scattered about

The causality of war
lay sleeping holding her pillow
the only tangible thing she had left
Waking from her nightmare
with the battle scars of despair
Red puffy eyes
Sore throat from screaming
Only to realize it wasn't a nightmare

She had fought the war
......and lost
for that matter, had been slaughtered
Left with only emptiness inside
And thoughts of what could have been
She lost it all in the fight

All is fair in love and war they say
No one ever told her
that love was war
and you can't expect
to get out in alive
let alone in one piece
