My Obituary

Tick to the tock
And sands slow down
It’s almost run out
With a quick flash
For life’s fast recap
Good, bad, indifferent
Was I ever innocent?

Recent Recollections state
Living free of influences
Life began at eight
New memories return
August first of eighty-eight
The delirium my date

What wound me
So I could tick?
Must be what I’ve seen
Home-wreck and heart-break
From mad until obscene
Does love equal hate?
If so I’ve found my queen

Recent recollections state
Living free of sanity
Leaving home for sin
Free I used and abused
If we love I’ll pretend
How was my rouse?
Patterns emerge in the end

Why wind me
So I may tock?
When all I do is take
Putting hopes up my nose
Then French inhaling dreams
I pop brain cells like candy
And misery loves company

Recent recollections state
Living free of hope
I obsess with death
Seconds spent on the street
Brunch then the bedroom
Then under the sheets
Later asking only a shower and sleep

Tick to the tock
The sands all down
It’s all run out
As the quick flash finishes
I pray forgiveness
Through all my indifference
Was I ever innocent?
