This is a poem about the haven I find in romance novels.
Undeterred by scantily-clad models on the front,
I open the covers and draw myself into
A world of the intrigue of bygone days.

I am entranced by the rustle of skirts
And the sound of horse’s hooves.

I am drawn into a world of lords and ladies,
Castles and moors,
Servants and masters,
Etiquette and style.

Thus is this my secret escape,
My fantasy haven,
My newest romance novel.
