Moonlit Beginnings
By: Amy Penner

This is where
We come and sit
To get lost in thought
With your arms around me
As we sit
On the hood of my car
Watching the sun set
Beyond this sea of gold
That glitters ever so slightly
In the diminishing light
It bends and sways
With the soft breath of wind
As the sky beyond
Becomes a sweet hue
Of pinks and yellows
With a delicate touch of purple
Each hue shrinking
And growing darker
To inevitably leave us
Here alone
With only your body
Pressed so close to mine
To keep the cold at bay
As we look upon
The final scene
Of this majestic play
