To my father, who passed away on June 21, 2001, at the age of 57. Edited version.
Words cannot express the sadness and the fear,
Knowing in my heart, you'll never again be near.
I just hope you realize how very much you're missed.
You've touched so many lives with something as simple as this:
The last four years you'd been in such pain,
And you never once chose to complain.
Always trying to keep our spirits up,
When the going seemed to get too tough.
I've never met a stronger man or been prouder of any other.
You have no idea how much it meant to have you as my Father.
I was very lucky to have you beside me,
But now I am luckier because you can guide me.
I know in my heart that we will meet again,
And when that day comes, our new lives begin.

*Cry*  NOTE:  Poetry has always been a way for me to express myself and how I'm feeling. I wanted to make this poem public because it is a tribute to my father. He was not just a father to me, he was also my best friend. Even though I only had him in my life for 25 years, I will love him and miss him always. By writing and sharing this poem, his memory will live on forever.
