everybody knows this feeling.
Linoleum floor

When you walk by

My eyes move to

The shiny linoleum floor

And I pretend to be so interested in it

Until you are right beside me

Then I look up

Straight ahead

So our eyes never meet

And I miss those blue eyes

And if I we make eye contact

I look away

As if it was an accident

When I was really waiting for you to look at me

So I could see all the memories in your eyes

And I remember when you would meet me in the rain

And water would splash down

But it seemed like we were the only people in the world

And the thunder would crash

And lightning would burn

But it didn't matter

I was safe in your arms

And I remember when we would laugh

And your laugh was like water pouring in a crystal glass

It flowed right through me

And I haven't heard it in such a long time

And I miss you

I miss everything about you

I didn't know I could go this long without seeing your smile

And every day is unbearable

Because it feels like I've been ripped open

And now I sit here alone

The pieces of me scrambled

And I know

That the only thing that can make this right

Is you

And you seem completely oblivious

But all I want

Is to see you one last time

And push your hair back

And you'd smile

And I'd smile

And then maybe we would go outside

During a storm

And we could hold hands

And laugh

And the thunder would drown out all the bad sounds

And all the bad things

Would be gone

And we could run away

Way past the sunset

Far out where no one could find us

Back where we belong

And then we could watch the painted cotton candy sky

And watch the sky fade to navy

And then the stars would come out

And I'd have to catch my breath

Because it'd all be so beautiful

And now I can see the stars in your eyes

And I know that that's right

And that's where it should be

That's where we should be

But you've already passed

So I am left here

To try and make out constellations on the

Linoleum floor

And the only one I can find

Is the one that spells out your name
