Just expressing past and present anxieties about getting that special someone.
Here we go again
same song set to repeat,
burning over and over with the same words
the words that i wrote.
A thousand words that in a thousand ways
scream your name a thousand times
yet you never hear a one.

I suppose the song was never really written for you.
I wrote it for me.
Wrote it to understand how these words in my head
could be screamed at the top of my lungs,
or whispered incessantly,
and still fall upon the deafest ears.
your ears.
The only ones meant to hear a song like this.
yet the others hear.
others who surround us and turn to me as you turn away,
they point a finger and say "See the fool. See the fool."
And so the fool I become.
For as their voices grow louder and drown me out with mockery,
I raise my own and scream until it hurts my throat,
then scream all the louder still.

Turn around!
They cannot be right.
They don't know what I know.
They weren't moved to song.
They didn't see the eyes that I saw.
They didn't hold the hands that once held mine.
They never kissed the lips that I now covet,
though they fail to form "Hello".

The farther you run, the louder I scream.
I scream this song on repeat.
Burn it over and over with the exact same words.
The words that I wrote.
A thousand words that in a thousand ways
scream your name a thousand times
yet you never hear a one.

And so the Fool I Become
