I finally faced up to who I am, and it hurt.
At first I walked alone, and I succumbed
To company that deadened loss and pain:
Your flesh, a hollow effigy of love;
and wicked stuff I kissed, that called again,
"Remind yourself of me when you're alone!
Come kiss my filthy lips at any time!
I'm here to hold your tender little hand
And take you to escapes supreme, sublime!"
I knew that shallowness would never fill
My need.  My need was deep, and deep my thirst.
O thirsty I remained.  I'm thirsty still -
I knew the truth.  I knew it from the first.
