Patriarchy once led the way.........

Sweet Freedom

Patriarchy once led the way,
it kept our spirit tied.
Misogyny, what price we pay!
No wonder women cried.

Misoneists loathe changes and
misologists agree.
No altered status, they demand.
Females should not be free!

Throughout the ages women fought,
they stood up for their right.
To be held equal’s what they sought,
not some repressive plight.

Women’s suffrage lent a loud voice,
an ever growing tide
of women shouting out for choice.
Emancipation’s pride.

In twenty-eight we got the vote.
The movement had begun.
It made men sit up and take note-
the suffragettes had won!

Because of them I had the chance
to become what I would.
Knowledge helped me to thus enhance
my life with all that’s good.

My hope? For freedom always strive
don't let it go to waste,
this honey garnered from the hive.
Emancipation's taste.
