For a class assignment; a poem written about an article in the newspaper.
Dog-gerel

My neighbor's apartment
Door's open, I look...
"Something's up!" I think,
"Call the cops? It's a crook?"

(Should I go over or should I just let it pass?)

I peek ‘round the corner,
Then closer I creep;
I'd have an alarm if I
Wasn't so cheap!

(Maybe I need some more of my grass...)

Should I go on in?
Or should I ignore?
My knees are all shaky...
Just what is the score?

(Can't I listen on the wall with a glass?)

This is crazy!
What am I, a putz?
I know she's not home now,
I need to show guts!

(If the cops show up now, I'll be charged with trespass!)

Ok, that's it; I'll
Walk in and confront!
Oh no! Wait a minute!
Oh, jeez, what a stunt.

(Stop laughing, now...I won't have your sass!)

I thought I was being so
Smart and so brave.
Even the doctor's snickering...
I've no face left to save.

(My neighbor's damned dog bit me right in the ass.)
