very funny but realistic immigration song
Gettn’ to a Safe Place

Verse 1
Do you have two pennies to spare?
We need a boat out of here
My kind is not accepted
We have been rejected
I am paid very little
I need somewhere to settle
We need to get out of here

Chorus
We’re moving to America
We’re beggin’ for some crumbs
Now we feel like bums
Our jobs our tough and our lives are rough
Sickness is all around
We’re losing weight by the pound
Our dreams have come true
God Bless Me and you!

Verse 2
We’re on, we’re here
The boat has left the pier
But dirt and grime are all over
Sickness and hunger take control (That’s mine!)
The cold is too much to bear
There are no blankets to spare
Look, America is finally here.

Verse 3
The lady of green is the big scene
Everyone step up and form a line
Sign, sign, sign the country is finally mine
We work real hard to get a green card
I hate this crowd it’s so very loud
The time has finally come to drink a bottle of rum.
