I wrote this for my wife, she loved it so much she wanted me to use it for the contest.
This morning I awoke to find,
a problem troubling my heart and mind,
what gift can relay,
this Valentine's Day,
How I feel for my wife,
the love of my life?
This is my quandrary today.

I had thought, maybe a new ring?
Surely that would be the thing,
but no diamond of any size,
can match the twinkle in my baby's eyes.
Maybe candy?
Would be dandy?
But even a large super-size box of that treat,
would never be as sweet,
as my lovely bride,
in whom I take such pride.

I know of your love of roses in yellow,
alas, the last dozen was purchased by another fellow.
Wondering what to do,
to show my love for you,
I decided to compose these few lines,
for this day of Valentine's.
I want to express
what no card could say, more or less,
that my love for you does grow,
and I hope that you know,
that year after year,
I do and always will, love you my dear.
