The Queen of France offered a gambit and lost
queen's gambit declined

antoinette offered cakes,
no, the pawns said, give
your royal crown instead

begone, the queen said,
my crown stays till i die
accept the sweet to live

our tongues are numbed
our throats are tight, no
thanks, free us instead

pawns cannot command,
remember that, yours is
to bow, follow, and wait

you understand not, we
pawns control the game
we can cut off your head

and that's what they did
