Ode to a friend who was murdered by his lover
"June 20th Somewhere In Vegas"

In the burrows of the darkness
Where lovers try to reason
By the wool of the Lamb at Charleston
Jim "The Hessian" Hess fell by loves treason
The slots in the city spun 'round about
Under payphones the hohos found sleep
The pimps and the dealers raffled their souls
While the addicts and swingers did their back-alley leap
Come now Jimmy, I'll teach you slither
And let me show you my darkest of alleys
My victims must have thought it were music
When they met my snub-38-Sally
The echoes have subsided all but forever
Yet somewhere in the distance, I still hear them scream
All the graveyard specials have been struck
Neon pipe dreams are few and too far in between
For the desert was black amid the twinkling twill
Except for the glow of diamonds on lace
This green studded, meth and blood money swill
Has sent many a'player to their last resting place
As for "Jimbo" he only saw the first dye roll by
When Sally whispered "good night" in kisses on his back
A crowd of people watched from the shadows
And waged twelve and a half to one
On that double odd black.
