This poem is about leaving a place I once called home" (After the divorce)
"Moon Over Pheonix"

I pack up my belongings
And set out on my quest
Glancing over my left shoulder
As the sun sets in the west

The dying glow it settles
As day-time surrenders to night
Father time is marching forward
With stunningly consistent might

Amid'st the gathering darkness
To me the winds do speak
They remind me of my journey
And the promise that I must keep

For the most part, the desert is blackness
Yet in the shadows, there is life
The creatures are his bride-groom
And the mountains are his wife

The evening, now is established
But will be replaced by the morning soon
And for now the stars have reign
Accompanied only by the moon

The desert was peaceful and silent
Not a single bird did fly
And the city lights were twinkling
As if to say goodbye

My journey is like the ocean
As vast as the heavens above
And I'm leaving now to cross it
To a place I know whereof.
