no rhyme scheme, but was written down as it was being thought of
Looking into the past I see the ravages of time
The changes that have taken place
the lives that we have lost, the innocent gone asunder
I see the shadows of my former friends
the shells cast off as time marches on
As we look back on things that were
the things in our heart that we cling to
we realize how nothing is ever is as it seems
sometimes we see the changes in ourselves
more often than not we see the changes in others
the alterations of time, space, and circumstance
it all flows through our minds as we try to grasp
attempting to cling to the thoughts of yesterday
and how everything was better, how short sighted we truly are
not realizing that the pains of yesterday are gone
the trials and struggles back then are always forgotten
so then what we have left is this hollow memory
and the belief that yesterday is better than tomorrow
and the ignorance that if we got through yesterday
then tomorrow should pale in comparison
