A little poem I wrote for my English class. It had to be about a MIA vietnam vet.
Weight of Pain

Black tile
With names carved in
their everlasting presence
Looking over the people they fought for
And died for

Richard Allen Estrada, John Edward Nelson, Richard Peguero

The dull knife pain of death
Stabs out and strikes
The people he fought for
And died for

All he asks is for memory
A house in the heads of others
Where he can live on
Past the fighting

his name stands proudly
Against his will it stands proudly
Against the country's will it stands proudly
Subtle proof of his last gift to his family,
a gold star

It is hard to believe that a name
his name
Still burns within people
Father, Mother, Relatives, Friends, Comrades,
Still hold the weight of his soul
Which is only lighted by tears

But who holds the weight of Richard Allen Estrada's soul?
What about Richard Peguero, Stanly Spikes, Ray Leonard Ferry, Stephen John Hinds, and Glennis Ray Kellams?

The deep impact of their names
All of their names
Is deadened by us
we share the burden of their souls,
Though memory and love,
And help the truly crippled
Father, Mother, Relatives, Friends, Comrades,
And the survivors themselves

The people they fought for
And died for
Will forever look over them
And their loved ones
And we will always grant them presence
Into out hearts
