The danger of seeing what isn't there
I hold my heart in shame

I lie, unmoving, still, inert,
Too drained to feel,
Too hurt to hear,
The voices in my head.
I listened unwisely,
And now I pay the price.
Too high for me,
Too deep for you.
Apart, now by miles,
Which will not be bridged
By either.
Too late for me
Too late for you
I hold my heart in shame
