based off of the same structure in "As i walked out one Evening" by W. H. Auden
As I sat up on my rooftop,
         Watching the stars soar by,
I drank my liquid vice
And wished that I could fly.

When, in a crashing rush,
I saw flashing youth go through
The previously peaceful night
And light up all in view.

Dancing and twirling past it all
         Without ever looking back,
They saw no danger or threat
         From death's overlooked attack.

The youths hooted and hollered
         'You'll never take us alive,
We are as invincible as infinite stone
No matter what we will survive.'

Drive us off a perched up cliff
         Down into a ravine,
Drop us into the ocean
We will only come out clean.

Yet even as they spoke this
         Yelling that they would stay,
Death gave a morbid smile
As the world turned life away.

Even as their hearts light up
All that will see the sun,
Death always has a song
To sing what must be sung.

From beneath natures right wing
         With glowing yellow eyes,
Death's body is but a shade
         his currency is lies.

In what seems like just a moment
         Their courage will lose grip,
Their hair will fall to the ground
Their strength will all but slip.

O look now at your wreckage,
look at what you have done,
know, know your arrogance,
         Death's one and only son.

As the mud around the damage
         Gathers up what is left,
Trial in the ravine will start,
         Your crime, horrendous theft.

In the valley with Death nearby,
The sun will all but fade,
The beauty eats the flower
And Apollo will cry in shade.

So hate, hate your hasty tongue
         O Hate your fiery heart,
From all you took for granted
         You will always be apart.

Now walk, walk along with death
And see now how you cry,
I will be watching you, waiting
For you to watch me fly.

It was dark, dark that night
The youths they were all gone,
Death finished his dark vengeance
And yet the soaring stars still shone.
