A girl goes the distance to cash in on a promise..
In Death, A Promise

Laying one night,
Her head on his shoulder.
I'll love you forever,
At least that's what he told her.

Romance, it blossomed,
They met then parted.
Marriage, their creed,
Till from life he departed.

She didn't ride with him,
Her decision is mystery.
He stalled on the tracks,
Their future was history.

The blame was not his,
Though through angst she'd confide.
Cries in the dark,
It was his fault he died.

Torn from her lover,
Her face was a mask.
Desperation had decided.
She prepared for the task.

He said forever,
She won't be forsaken.
Her heart still held on,
To the love that was taken.

An afterlife cooed,
Through death and its grace,
Forever, he said,
She'd find his embrace.

I'll draw the picture,
The assumption is yours.
The embrace of young lovers,
Silhouette in the stars.

As for reality,
Her body sways in the wind.
To take not a breath,
To be hurt not again.
