Sometimes our choices are cruel and leave us broken
In airless shafts I floated
Suspended by indrawn breath
Eyes dilated and bloated
Blank with plague of death

Humid nostrils breathing hot
Tensing inward; flaring gusts.
Pointed, pinched faces of Salem's lot
Faces black with their diseased lust

Belly painfully swollen
A heartbeat loud within
Indrawn breath is stolen
For the payment of my sin

Connecting ties are broken
Belly quivering; Wild
Death be to love's token
The payment - an innocent child
