About a friend who was dying
I wouldn't believe I'd see you there,
Especially because of how much you shined!
I never thought you'd fade like this,
Your glow could've lit the deepest abyss,
God, I never thought I'd see you here
With all those scratches around your eyes
Your tears mix with blood and gauze,
Not conscious enough to say what you want
And I never thought I'd see you so gone!
As the small runt, so vulnerable
But you're the greatest of the pack,
I remember you smiling and laughing
Christmas morning throwing the wrapping
Days you woke up early and made coffee
Jumping off the roof into the pool
Never when we reached a point so high,
Could I have seen you where you are now
You threw me into the air when I was a little girl
You scared away boys as I grew old
Told me I was getting so pretty as I was growing up
And then I would have never believed,
Some day I might have to watch you die
