A poem about the American flag and the soldiers who die defending it.
That banner bright which waves aloft,
For freedom stands amidst the night;
With forceful might it stays its cause,
Determined to set wrong to right.

White stars are set in a sea of blue,
Unwavering lights in the deep;
The clean, new hope so proud and true,
By the strength and honor we keep.

That banner sound which waves aloft,
For liberty stands on solid ground;
By purity crowned it stays its cause,
By vigilance firm is eternally bound.

Broad white bands in blood red field,
Blood so spilled for our land;
For to evil, this land will not yield
Against evil the brave will stand.

That banner true which waves aloft,
For honor lasts, wrong to subdue;
With strength made new it stays its cause,
To protect the weak, good to pursue.

And when we see our flag so fly,
Let us remember the men;
Who sacrifice for cause so high,
To fight for our country again.

They go to gain the victor's crown,
They go under liberty's cry;
Because death won't hold these heroes down,
And life their deaths do buy.

That banner bright which waves aloft,
For freedom stands amidst the night;
With forceful might it stays its cause,
Determined to set wrong to right.
