Sometimes we just don't fit, but it might be for the better.
How often does the thought occur
If only I was born older or younger
If only I could be like him or her
then I could fit, then I could see
Then I could be the person I've wanted to be

Well maybe it's true, maybe it's exact
Maybe we could be what we want, true to one fact
But if that were the case
At the end we would face
Trials of fear and of escape
Just trying to get out of that place

So perhaps the reason we aren't born to become
Exactly where we want to be
Is that if we start out and end in one puzzle
It's hard to become free

Perhaps the reason we're born a piece that won't fit
Is so we can realize who we are, bit by bit

So next time you ask yourself, why and why not
Try to remember the traits you forgot
For those are the ones that will take you far
Those are the traits that make you who you are.
