A lonely young man reflects on what he cannot have.
By The Sea

As I lay adrift in the restless sea
Looking up at nighttime stars embossed
I ponder what I wish would be
'Ere it scatters, ever lost

I am so close, and yet so far
Through winter's cold and summer's gleam
I close my eyes, and there you are
Teasing, tempting, in my dream

If I dare give you a call
Words on my breath seem stole away
And off you dance along the hall
Escaping for yet another day

Brought to life by just your smile
I try to show you that I care
I cower, and wait, and all the while
The world moves onward, unaware

Daybreak signifies night's end
And I yearn for you to be by my side
If not as my love, then as my friend
Silhouetted by the ageless tide
