About long lost relationships that linger in the mind. What ifs..?
One day of perfect stillness,
A little reminder of days gone by,
One night full of aquiesce,
To bridge the gap over the River Shy.

Living just for the next time,
Dying each moment spent alone,
Seems to be a lovers' crime,
Which hope and patience cannot atone.

Running is not always a failure,
Just an acceptance of the fact,
That your soul cannot endure,
Much longer of this act.

But looking over your shoulder,
For all these years to come,
Will you still dwell and look for her,
And to no-one, mention.

The reason for your distance,
Or why you ran away?
Will you only feign indifference,
And say you couldn't stay?

Just tell them with a subtle smile,
That she was why you ran,
Not at first, after a while,
They'll begin to understand.

At least you had those days and nights,
To build and walk your bridges,
Take comfort in your finer ways,
Be thankful for the memories.
