Oh! Blessed Nightingale, fair light-feathered angel soaring about the forest green,
Oh! Blessed Nightingale,
fair light-feathered angel soaring about the forest green,
It is the calling of the hour,
Where the days pale complexion grows dim.
And it's face beams with moonlight oil,
Bringing numberless shadows to the night.
The dark browed summer eve's stain the season,
And the generous climbs know of its golden settings
Dwelling above the wind driven trees that couch its nest .
Pure gale will fan your soft wings of love
From on that cedar bough
Sending forth that tender high note
In every lovers hear.

Oh! Blessed Nightingale,
Oh! Your mused song
The sweet sound of your thunder
When you beat your wings in flight.
That softly serenades, my lady love,
With your melidious theme.
Fragrant clouds turns the wheels
Of her starry chariots,
That halo her dear sainted face
Where a portion of heaven gives light
To her angelical eyes of resistless beauty.
My heart is pierced with her
And disperses her spirit glow serenely bright,

Ah! My beloved!
May I behold her sovereign rays, or none,

Her high heavenly grace is this worlds only reign.
Beyond a kings noble brow,
Or a gold embosomed kingdom lie,
Upon this darkling journey,
Love will seat a throne within her lofty heart.
