My mother's preference.
Predilection

As a child, I always knew that my mother preferred my brother over me.
I bristled and bridled as I grew up,
World believed that I was nonchalant and not bothered,
Bordering over indifference, I matured.

We grew and also grew apart from our mother.
After so many years we decided to travel together to meet her.
I heard that she was looking forward to our visit,
I wondered whether us or only him.

I never was close to her.
Then why do I question thee!
Why should it bother me if it is him?
Since I know that my mother prefers my brother over me.
