I know the moon is usually referred to in the feminine, but sometimes I call it Mr. Moon
I know you, Mr. Moon,
are friends with every star.
I know you, Mr. Moon,
see very, very far.

So tell me, Mr. Moon,
what future you descry.
Now tell me, Mr. Moon,
if I should even try.

For evil days have fallen,
though the nights are no less dark,
and hermitage is callin',
that, or another Ark.

Mr. Moon, when you're half there,
I cringe beneath your cynic's stare.
I look away, I twitch and cower
beneath your squinting silver glower.

Ah, but Mr. Moon, the world turns on.
What is now will soon be gone.
Yes, only you will still shine on,
through Destiny's unknown dawn.

I see you, Mr. Moon,
rising like the hope that frees,
I see you, Mr. Moon,
I see you seeing me.
