Just a lazy afternoon sonnet really.
This was done really quickly, so there are probably a lot of lazy mistakes I have overlooked. Any help with improving it would be mucho appreciated!

A Happy Friend on the Sofa

A salty lick from an absent minded
Tongue. Out of habit rather than a thought,
A sleeping dog is dreaming, head rested
Warming my toes. A gentle snore and snort
Emits than louder, LOUDER, no such thing
As ladyness. A dream takes hold, such bliss
When Lab can turn to Wolf (no fear) and sing
A haunting song, with twitching feet. And this
Story then plays another scene: a rolling
Growl from the throat- a warning, protection
From some unknown trespasser or young thing.
(Perhaps not playful initiation.)
An eye opens, quiet, observes the world,
Unaware of the show that just unfurled.
