watching her sleep, and then she woke
You saw it, didn't you?
It was warm and bare and raw... and skittish.
We said nothing of it.

I slammed my eyes shut,
Tried to hide it away...
But I knew you saw it.

It was early on a lazy morning,
And I watched you in your slumber -
At ease in my adoration,
No reason for concealment...

And then........

Your blue eyes opened,
Pale and clear,
Deep and bare...
And oh, so very alert.

Oh, yes, I know you caught me.
No way my soul could hide from that gaze.

For the longest time it vexed me,
Having left myself so bare.

Now, free from the fog of my embarassment,
I see, and with utter clarity,
That oh yes, my friend, I caught you too.
