brief description of pieces of a woman's life
WOMAN

First you are a daughter,
Your mother’s newest friend
Then your daddy’s little girl
He always will defend

Next you are a sister
You feel you must compete
Now your getting married
You’ve become a wife

Then you become a mother
Your child consumes your life
Somewhere in between those things
You might become an Aunt, a cousin or a niece

Also there’s the option
of being a best friend
one who keeps the secrets
until the very end

All to soon your all alone
The kids have grown and gone
You sit and wait beside the phone
hoping that they'll call

Suddenly your Grandma
perfect in every way
Suddenly your needed
each and every day

With grandma you know where you stand
There is no indecision.
Then if you are lucky and time is on your side
You turn into Great-Grandma, special, old and wise

Someone who has lived her life
To the very fullest
Someone who is respected
Someone who persevered

Someone who was a daughter
Her mothers youngest friend.
