From bad to good

Righteous

My past is not good
Nay my past is not even bad
Nay is my past awful
Nay is my past horrible
My past is however darker that all combined
Even though I turn to the Word of God
The ever present taint of my past creeps past
I am seen as a good man
I am seen as a Christian
But when I am looked at for too long
My past is visible as the black tendrils creeping at the edges
Look at me longer and tendrils become larger
They flail about violently
Even longer and the tendrils combine into a looming black mass behind me
Soon all the person can see is my black past
It is then they forget the good man that was before them
They forget the Christian they seen before
They focus on the darkness
The glow of my Christianity pronounces the darkness
For it can not drive it away for it is a part of me
And no matter how brightly it shines against the darkness
It is never noticed that the light is bigger and stronger
And that the darkness stays behind me
While the light surrounds me and leads my way
I am a man of God
And it is to him I pledge my allegiance
It is to him I serve
I am a soldier among many to fight the darkness
To bring light where is none
And to strengthen it where it is weak
My past is wicked but my future is righteous
