A middle school teacher's views on her class.
Staring out at a sea of faces,
a reflection of the world,
awaits my wisdom.

Mirror images of myself,
past and present,
glare back at me.

I am them,
in grown-up form,
still finding my way.

Craving independence,
next needing comfort,
it is adolescence.

No judgement I render,
for finding one’s self,
is a life long process.

Who we are,
what we are,
it’s nothing but a point of view.

Each one unique,
I seek the key,
that unlocks the barrier.

Not my foes,
but a gift for a time,
a mystery to unravel.

I stand before them,
eager to listen,
awaiting their wisdom.
