The strains of long-distance relationships...
Distance

The distance between us,
Drives the nail deeper,
Separating us from each other,
That much more.
Only a few state lines away,
The distance could be huge or small,
Depending on which side,
You choose to see it from.
To me,
The distance means nothing.
To you,
The distance means everything.
To you,
The distance between us,
Is an enormous obstacle,
That can’t be overcome;
Restraining our relationship,
Restraining you.
Blowing this “restraining” distance,
Out of proportions,
You make it seem like we’re worlds apart,
When really it’s only,
A few imaginary lines.
You make such a big deal,
About the distance,
Claiming it’s “hard on you”.
It’s harder on me,
Than it is on you.
Knowing that I can’t be there,
Or that I can’t see you every day,
Kills me.
But I’m dealing,
And you should do the same.
I don’t care about the distance,
I only care about you,
And with you using the distance,
As an excuse not to talk to me,
You just restrain us further.
I’m sick of hearing you whine,
About the distance,
And with you constantly bringing it up,
It’s harder for me to forget,
That we’re not in the same place.
I’m always reminded of the pain,
This distance between us,
Has bestowed on me,
You,
And our relationship.
This distance,
Is tearing us apart.
