A girl who always thought daddy would be around
I can remember it like yesterday
It was the night of Christmas Eve
You and mum were arguing
She told you to pack up and leave

I couldn't stand the shouting
Or the tears in your eyes
I was only 6 years old Dad
Too young to prepare for goodbyes

Upon that morning you left me
Without a care in the world
But daddy you said you'd never leave me
I would always be your girl

Mummy said you'd moved on now
Setup home with somebody new
I didn't like the thought of that
Just wanted it to be me,mummy and you

15years later i had a call on my phone
It was your brother Paul,
He said darling come on up quick
Its your dad hes had a bad fall

With teary eyes i watched you
We watched you fade away
But your final wish was to spend time with me
Although you couldn't stay

Upon the bedside table i found a tatted note
It was signed to my precious girl :

And this is how it goes

My darling, i never meant to leave you, nor hurt you like i did,
but you would never understand the pain of what your mother hid,
with years she had a problem that nobody could solve
and as i walked out that door i couldn't bear to be told.
You spent that christmas crying all the day and night
But if only i could tell you how much i would make it right.
For every single day thats passed i've held you in my heart
And withon these final words . .

I LOVE YOU MY DARLING EVER SINCE THE START
