A failed relationship. ...It all began under the tree....
I already forgot what you
Told me underneath the tree;
I've left behind my mark, and
You yours- we can go now,
Into the night and be free
Again, chained to no man-
Only ourselves, each other...
I've already forgotten what
You meant so long ago under
The tree- how the world could
Never be, how it's all for you
And me. I know there was a
Point, but what of it? We can
Be all we've ever wanted to
Be: We're free of the tree.

I ran away from what could
Have been- this is not right
For us. My time on Earth is
Dwindling but the candle's flame
Is burning bright as ever- could
Everything possibly be alright?
Is this- the world askew and
The night haunted- is this
The world we now must know?
The world we've fashioned?
No- I ran away one cold night....
So it must be; I ran away from
All that could have been.

I let you steal away that cheery
Summer's day with all that
I've ever said to you; you took
All that was rightfully yours
And I was too foolish to wish to
Part with- now gone, gone into the
Abyss, is this what's to become of
Me? This ruinous future and
God-forsaken night? I can't let this be
Though what can I do? I let you
Steal away on that cheery summer's
Day with all that I've ever said

To you.
