A poem for my father.
On a beautiful day in May,
tears rained from the skies.
It became a dreary day,
when the sun did not rise.
"I love you, God loves you", is all he'd say.
He was so very wise.
I kissed his feet and watched him lay,
with death now in his eyes.
Then she sang for him to stay,
as she began to realize...
that her skies were turning gray,
and her sun would not rise.
"Take me with you", I heard her say
through her painful cries.
But God took her sunshine away
as tears filled her eyes.
Now here she is today,
with loneliness in her sighs.
And her skies are still gray,
from no sunshine in her eyes.
