Do you know the person next to you?
Shadows of Darkness

Thunderous clouds
live in my soul,
shadows of darkness.

Though my painted smile
greets you each morning,
I weep tears of loneliness.

While I sweetly offer you
kindness and good deeds,
my gut wrenches in pain.

What do you truly see?
Do you know your friend,
your co-worker... ME?

Look deeper... and you’ll find
ominous shadows of darkness
consuming my soul.
