A new poem I wrote. Tell me if I should change anything.
You wish I didn't care
You wish I'd forget it
Sorry to dissapoint
But don't expect that to happen
You're hurt physically
I feel it, too
You're hurt emotionally
I hurt right with you
You put on your mask
Say everything's okay
You try to be strong
I see right through your act
You're so easy to read
Your heart gets torn to pieces
I'm there to tape it up
I'm right there to fix it
Put the pieces back together
If you're ever upset
I'm at your door with the ice cream
And a shoulder to spill your tears upon
I'm only happy when you are
When you're sad, so am I
My emotions are yours
What you feel, I feel it, too
You can ask for anything
Your answer is 'yes' in a second
Although I'll say 'no' to only this
You tell me not to care
You say pretend nothing's wrong
Just be happy and forget it
Well here's an update, my friend
Don't expect me not to care
Don't tell me to pretend
That's not how things go
That's not what friendship is
Caring lasts forever
Pretending is never
