Poem. All men are islands, and some are more isolated than others.
Never let them see you.

The scars, thick and thin,

Like a map of your life

Sliced into fragile skin.

Never let them see you,

Their eyes become a mirror to your soul.

Never let them touch you.

A careless brush of fingers,

Fleeting evidence of existence

Outside of your mind, lingers.

Never let them touch you,

Or be tempted to lose yourself.

Never let them know you.

Witness streams of consciousness

Fly like kites in sea-born gales,

Tangled twine, midwife to neurosis.

Never let them know you,

Or risk their understanding.
