The dream we all should believe in isn't the American Dream at all.
The Great American Dream.

When I was young,
I grew up as
an innocent suburban boy
my parents taught me all about
the American Dream
that you marry
raise a family
and teach your boys about
The American Dream

I used to ask my mom
why
why can't a family
be two men?
then came the ignorance

When I was fifteen
me and my first boy
both felt ready
to tell our parents
I took him home
and together
we told them
I remember that
my mom asked me
if everything she taught me
about pride and the American Dream
was for nothing

I always thought that
you're free to dream
free to dream of things
only you dream about
But when I grew older
I finally understood

The Dream we all should believe in
Isn't the American Dream
It's the dream
of Freedom.
