A confession, a choice, a lesson...
A confession:
Lately I've found myself to be restless. It is as if I have stumbled upon a dusty old wooden box in the attic of my mind purely by accident and perhaps a dash of my famed klutziness. Tripping over it, cursing myself as I fall and the old wood gives way. Bursting with unexpected life.

Once open, I find myself viewing my own personal Pandora's Box.

Out flies my creativity, my dreams, my hopes, my fears…..free after all these years.
Frantic, afraid I will box them again, they fly around in my head at the speed of light.
I no longer control them.
I fear I may never tame them again.

Their flight is too painful to bear.
Experience has taught me,
what goes up must come down…

Another one manages to escape and with surprising grace lands here, on this page:

She stood on the edge of the cliff.
Her long onyx hair pushed back by the wind, dancing playfully around her.
Behind her lay the winding path she's traveled to get to the top with its many curves and forks along the way.
Some curves with soft green grass lovingly kissed by the warmth of the sun.
Others pitted with holes and littered with sharp jagged stones making her journey often treacherous and dark.
Evidence of this shows as she glances down at her bleeding feet.
The dried blood a startling contrast against her gardenia white skin and the impossibly soft green grass she rests them on.
Somehow she's managed to make the choices that led her to this spot, the highest peak.
Only two ways down.
To turn back,
back to safety,
back to the path she's known?
Or to jump!

Jump,
to feel free.
To fly.
To take a chance.
To go for the unknown,
the unpaved.
The path with no gravel,
no dirt,
only clouds.
Air and sun.
Freedom......

Will she jump?

Should she jump?

Or return to the familiar,
even if it means going back....
to never move forward in life again?

                                                  She tilts her face upward,

Closing her eyes against the sun.
It's brilliance.
It's succulent warmth,
The mere heat of it is beyond enticing.

She jumps and for a moment, she flies.
