I wrote this shortly after crowd surfing for the first time. It touched me.
All around me, people are screaming,
Joy; delight,
We all feel the excitement
We’re all here for the same thing
And in some strange way,
Nobody cares,
But everyone matters…
To everyone else.

Lifted up I feel ten, twenty,
A thousand hands,
Maybe even a million.
Moving me along, holding me up.
They want me to get there,
Want me to succeed.

I’m one in the crowd,
They don’t know me,
They never will.
It doesn’t matter.
Hands hold me up.

To the front.
To the front,
I will succeed.

I’m lifted down, it’s over
As soon as it began.

The screaming is loud as ever,
The cheering,
It’s all a blur.

It’s over,
but I can still feel those hands.

A million hands…
